Nutrition, Diet For Bodybuilders

Increase your protein intake (35 to 55 grams with after each time you eat every 3 hours) - this prevents the body burning muscle tissue whilst you are dieting. Good protein sources include lean red meat, chicken, turkey fish and whey protein. For those protein shakes - always try to consume high quality whey protein - not cheaper milk or casein proteins! Research shows that whey protein leads to over a 100% greater increase in protein synthesis (the fancy term for muscle growth) than the cheap milk protein found in many protein powders. In addition, whey protein halts the muscle-wasting hormone 'cortisol'. Whey protein heads straight into the bloodstream - ready for delivery to your protein-starved muscles. And always try to consume a protein shake immediately after a workout - this is when your muscles need it most!

Drink lots of water - something like 2 litres a day if you can manage it! My advice here is to start early in the day! Drinking large amounts of water is very important if you are taking a course of steroids. You need to flush out those internal organs and supply the water your muscles need to grow. Cut down on your salt as it reduces the ability of your stomach to digest protein. Added to this, salt may lead to water retention, heart disease and high blood pressure. Reduce your intake of fats from dairy and animal products - but 'high fat' cold water fish such as salmon, herring, sardines and mackerel are good for your system and should be on your shopping list. Make sure you eat nutrient rich foods (tuna, chicken, salads, pasta, beans, and pulses) and try to cut down on your sugars, salts and fats! Empty calories (sweets, chocolates, fried food) won't provide the fuel you need but they may make you fat.

Go for complex carbohydrates (bananas, brown rice, green vegetables) and cut down on simple carbohydrates (chocolate, cakes, chips, and white bread - even carrots!). Basically, complex carbs are harder to break down and they keep your insulin levels on a more even plateau. Simple carbs will give you a short term boost but make you feel more lethargic when the boost disappears! Intense workouts require much higher doses of vitamins. If you're new to steroids, we always recommend that you seek expert professional advice before taking them, as what's right for one person is not necessary right for you. It's also worth remembering that steroids are not magic! They don't work on there own, a good healthy diet and exercise regimen are essential to achieving your goals.

Healthy Nutrition Diet - Importance of Vitamins and Minerals

Never underestimate the power of the vitamin. We need the right amount of vitamins and minerals every day in order to stay healthy. While supplements are always a helpful way to fill in those nutritional gaps, nothing can beat eating a well-balanced variety of nutrient-rich foods in order to give your body what it needs most.

Without the proper vitamins and minerals your body is unable to fight infection or repair damaged muscle and bone when injured. Choosing nutrient rich foods can enable you to stay strong and healthy - no matter what your age. Not sure what you should be eating for the best (and healthiest) results? Keep these basic nutritional guidelines in mind when creating a meal plan for the day:

Be sure to eat at least 6-11 servings of grains, cereals and breads every day. Just be sure they are whole grain varieties. Those made with enriched white flour lack the nutrients you need.

Fresh Fruit is also important, with the average required servings being 2-3 every day. While canned or packaged fruits give you some of the vitamins and minerals you need, they also come with high sugar levels, so try and opt for fresh fruit whenever possible. Besides, it usually tastes better!

Vegetables are an important part of every nutritional diet. Three to four (one cup) servings a day are recommended. Again try and eat fresh or frozen vegetables whenever possible, and try a variety of different types and colors for the most nutritional benefit.

Healthy Fats. Not all fats are bad. As a matter of fact, our bodies need some fats in order to give us the energy we need to get through our hectic days. Two to four servings a day are recommended. The key here is to opt for good fats found in olive oil, mackerel and salmon, and stay away from the bad fats found in processed and fast foods as well as bakery items.

Eating 1-2 servings (per week) of beans and Legumes are a great way to get the vitamins and minerals you need.

Low fat dairy is also important, especially for children and women. Most nutritional experts agree that a minimum of 2-4 servings of low fat dairy every day is important to maintaining good bone density and strength. Those who don't like to drink a lot of milk can find their dairy requirements in yogurt, cheese, cottage cheese, and other dairy products.

Lean protein that comes from seafood, poultry and lean meats is also very important. Try to eat at least 2-3 servings every day to maintain a high energy level as well as the ability to fight off disease and infection.

Weight Lifting Equipment

The first category of equipment used in this sport is the weights themselves. These are in the form of steel barbells weighing 20 kg for men and 15 kg for women. Each barbell has patterns called knurling engraved on its body. This pattern helps lifters get a steady grip on the barbell and reduce the chances of slipping. Specified weights for different categories are fixed on both the ends of the barbell. These weights are made of steel discs that are coated with rubber in different colors. So more weight is needed in the form of collars to hold these steel discs in place. These collars weigh 2.5 kg.

The arena for a weightlifting event needs a special kind of flooring. The size of this arena is as per specific international standards, four meters by four meters. This is a wooden floor coated with non-slip material. These standards are specified to ensure minimizing injury to participants.

Electronic devices are used for judging weightlifting events, monitoring movements, displaying scores and the like. A weightlifting event is judged by three referees who are provided with an electronic device to make their decision known to all. Color coded lights from the electronic panel signal the referees? decisions. As soon as two referees pass identical decisions a signal is given to the participant to lower the barbell. The referee's activity is monitored by the jury bench, who also has an electronic device for the purpose.

A scoreboard is used in weightlifting also. An electronic scoreboard with all relevant details is displayed prominently at the venue. An electronic attempt board and timing clock monitors each participant when he or she performs. The IWF has developed a computerized competition and calling and result system. This board displays calling lists and results and enables participants and their coaches to plan strategies.

Back Workout

It is common knowledge in the bodybuilding community that having a perfect developed back is essential for anyone who likes to work out for muscle build. The back consists of three main muscle groups. The upper back, the mid-back and the lower back muscle. They are a large muscle group and they need increased workout time in order to grow them. It is very important when you perform a back workout to divide the exercises in such a way so that all three primary back muscle groups get properly trained.

Here is a back workout that will help you grow your back muscles:

Bent Barbell Rows:
Bend over and grab a barbell with your hands at a shoulder width. Keep your knees slightly bended. Lift the barbell placing your arms straight. Keep the upper body at an angle of 45 degrees and arch your back. Lift the barbell into your stomach by moving just the arms and holding your body steady. Let it go down slowly and repeat the whole movement.

One Arm Dumbbell Row:
Put your one knee on a flat exercise bench with and place your other foot beside the bench. Place your one hand on the end of the bench. Grab a dumbbell with the other one. Keep your back flat and start lifting the dumbbell slowly focusing on your back muscles. Remember to keep your elbows close to your body. Repeat the movement with the other hand.

Seated Pulley Rows:
Grab the handle of a low cable pulley with both hands. Keep your knees slightly bent. Lean forward until your arms are totally stretched. You must feel the tension in your mid back muscles. Stay in that position for a second or two. Pull the handle towards your stomach slowly and keep that position for a second or two again.

Lat Pull downs:
Grab a straight bar which you have previously attached to a high pulley. Make sure the width of your grip is at your shoulders. Straighten your arms slowly until your back muscles are being stretched. Stay there for a second. Then pull the bar down until it touches your chest. Hold there again.

This is a basic back workout for all three primary back muscle groups. After completing those exercises you should feel your back muscles burning. If not try to add some wait. Your goal is to maximize the intensity and trigger muscle growth. And remember that training itself is not enough. You need to feed your muscles with the proper amount of amino acids and proteins.

Depression is not a disease that affects only the adults. It affects the children also. Always feeling under the weather? Always not in the mood to be around others and have a good time? If youíre suffering from prolonged sadness for quite some time now, you should face these bouts of depression and get yourself diagnosed by a psychiatrist, theyíre doctors who can actually help you out with your problem. Not to mention the various depression treatments, as well as all sorts of depression medication that doctors prescribe to their depression patients.

Fortunately depression can now be cured, especially when diagnosed early, depressed individuals can actually be treated through therapy and depression medication, although it may be a bit costly, a personís good mental health is something that shouldnít be scrimped on. Cognitive behavioral talk or interpersonal talk are incredibly healthy depression treatments that are just some of the available psychosocial depression treatments that cognitive behavior therapists can offer to their patients, both actually prove to be able to produce fruitful and positive results even for just short-term sessions, around ten to twenty weeks are almost always, already enough to get a depression patient slowly begin their recovery towards a sound mental health.

Before getting started with depression medication, the depression patient must first get him or herself to a reputable doctor, get a diagnosis of which type of depression the patient is actually suffering from, may it be clinical depression, manic depression or what-have-you. Itís best that youíre sure what youíre actually dealing with since there are various depression medications that are available in the market, you should make sure that you get the most appropriate one, the one thatíll actually cure your depression illness.

Thereís actually a wide variety of anti-depressant depression medications available to help treat those who are suffering from depressive disorders. The more popular ones are those that are of the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors or SSRIs variant then there are the tricyclics while the other popular variant is the monoamine oxidase inhibitors or MAOIs. These depression medications (the SSRIs variant as well as the other newer depression medication available in the market) actually to be a much safer alternative than the tricyclics, since they have fewer side-effects as opposed to the tricyclics depression medication variant.

Sometimes, doctors actually find it more effective to mix up these depression medications, depending on the needs of the individual, the doctor might actually prescribed a variety of depression medication to help cure oneís depression illness. Also the dosages of depression medication can actually be increased or lowered depending on what the doctor finds to be the most effective. However, when it comes to taking these depression medications, patients are highly advised to never mix up depression medications as well as pick out which dosages to take without consulting their doctors first.

Anti-anxiety or sedatives however, should never be mistaken as depression medication. Even though these anti-anxiety drugs are often prescribed along with depression medication, they donít actually help cure oneís depression illness. Their mere purpose is to help calm oneís nerves which is why depression medications are still needed to be taken by the depression patient.

There are actually some common side-effects from depression medication, usually coming from the tricyclic variety. Some people tend to not mind these side-effects from depression medication, however if it does become to much of a bother and may end up ruining oneís ability to function properly, itís best to go immediately to your doctor and report the side-effects. Chocolate Chip Cookie: America's Favorite Cookie?

One of the things that the cookie business has taught me is that people are passionate about their Chocolate Chip Cookies in all of their variations!

Discussions about what types of cookies people like, Peanut Butter, Snickerdoodle, and Oatmeal Raisin are fine but when we talk about these cookies the discussions never get as heated as they do when we discuss the Chocolate Chip Cookie.

American original, this cookie was invented by the proprietor of the Toll House Inn of Whitman Massachusetts in the 1930's, Ruth Wakefield created this menu item as a way to satisfy the sweet tooth of her guests. Years later she would publish a cookbook Toll House Tried and True Recipes that included her recipe for Toll House Chocolate Crunch Cook that was soon being baked by housewives all across the country.

The debate rages over which is better, thick or thin, chewy or crisp, big or little, everyone has their personal preference. I prefer a chewy one but with crisp outer edges, the best of both worlds if you ask me. But whether you like them crunchy or soft there is sure to be a cookie that has the perfect texture for you.

Not Just Chips

The chocolate chip cookie has been transformed into more types of products than any other cookie. It may have started with only chocolate, but today variations include white chocolate morsels, Reese's Pieces, M&M's, walnuts are often added to the dough to give them a bit of crunch, or maybe Macadamia nuts. Chocolate and Peanut Butter is a classic combination so why not Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies?

Don't like a cookie, turn them into a bar and lets call the Chocolate Morsel Bar Cookies baked in a brownie pan!

How about a GIANT cookie? There is such a thing as a 12 inch diameter, 27 ounce monster cookie that would feed an entire children's birthday party, or one really, really hungry cookie monster.

A flavor that we get asked to make a lot is Oatmeal Chocolate Chip, and we have a customer that LOVES his Oatmeal Walnut Chocolate Chip cookies.

What started in a little country Inn has grown into something remarkable and while there are many variations of this American classic one thing is for sure...we love our Chocolate Chip Cookies in all of their forms. What is your favorite?
